controlling sound thru an MP3 ?

hi. i recently got an iriver, similar to an ipod. now i have to hook it up to my pioneer deck via an IP-Bus cable/rca's. now since i cant control the songs and stuff from the MP3 player on my deck, ill have to change songs and files manually on the MP3 player. this isnt a problem, but what about the BASS/TREBLE/built-in

eq/VOLUME of the MP3 ??? do i stictly use the deck and my pioneer eq like i normally would and set all the MP3 player settings to "zer0" ??? or am i supposed to use the MP3 controls also in conjunction withmy deck/eq ??? its confusing. anyone hook up an ipod/iriver this way, and how did you control basic function??

keep your volume at 75-100%. Keep your EQ flat.

dont use both as volum controls, i only used my deck's setting when i hook stuff up. keep the mp3 player @like 50% volume and eq flat then do the rest through the deck
