What is the correct/ strongest way to build a box?

I have always built them using 2" Dry wall screws. Then Sealing all the seams with calking.

But someone told me that using a nail gun and glue works to?

Would i have to put glue on all the peices then Nail together? and wouldnt The Vibrations form the box cause the box to break/pull apart?

Help me out, I'm confused.

Just glue is plenty. The glue itself is stronger than the wood you're gluing. If you want you can use a nail gun or screws, but if you glue it and clamp it nice and tight, that's all you need.

Haha Well That's a given, but any specific brands?
Doesn't matter. Glue is glue.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif I just bought the cheapest stuff, worked awesome.

For the strongest box construction. I would do titebond original or 3 if you want to pay for it brad nails and 1-1/4 drywall srews 1 every 4inches usually a good rule of thump. And then the for the final glass the inside of the box. But just make sure your cuts are good and seem up really nice.

You build a box using this method i guarantee you it will not break from pressure only from dropping it or something else thats major-lee catastrophic.

that liquid nails stuff is pretty good. i use it along with a brad nailer to tack the boards together, then use clamps and screws to make sure everything is tight. then caulk up everything

i did some test for a school project on the liquid nails and it withstood about 1000 pounds when being pulled apart.

Have you NOT been using glue before? TB II and 1 5/8" drywall screws every 4-6" will work. Don't get closer then 1 1/2" from the ends or you risk splitting the MDF. Also predrill with a 3/32" bit...

i disagree with glue is enough for spl aplications. i used liquid nails construction adhesive and cementboard screws, then caulk the inside edges. mdf if submitted to enough pressure or vibration can come apart in layers, and yea i know the difference between plywood, birch, nova, chip board, and MDF. my box is doubled MDF and offset joints and it still breaks and backs out screws. i'de use at least a screw every 6 inches or less. if its got a big port it doesnt matter as much. just predrill when going into the edge of plywood or clamp it when putting the screw in it will split of you dont.
