"05 Scion Xa, subwoofer firing direction?

Well I am working on having a custom ported enclosure built for an SSA Icon 12" sub, and am looking for advice on firing direction and port. I have a '05 Scion Xa. So far the designer and I are thinking having the sub fire at an angle towards the hatch, and have the kerf flared port firing up towards the ceiling. Does anyone have experience with this car or this type of setup?

subs up port back or suyb back port back either way as i own the car and ive tested.
