Constructing a box inside a trunk

Finished all the calculations and designs for my box, and came out to 8.3 cu ft internal at 35Hz slot port. I was concerned that I might have a hard time getting the box in and out of the trunk, so I constructed a 1:1 model of the boxes outer dimensions, and sure enough, I can't fit the thing in my trunk.

Any tips? I thought about constructing it inside the trunk, but the only thing I have trouble with on that is that I've never done that before :/

*looks at people with massive boxes in sedans*

rip out all the panels so its easier to work in . also try and clamp as much as possible cause it sucks building insde the trunk also make sure the woofer will go inside box when box is done. i did a huge box for my civic for 1 15 it took up all the trunk. it sucked bolting up a 75lb woofer btw my woofer was pointing forward and sealed off from the trunk. but yeah hope it goes good

does your rear seat fold down or can u unbolt it? im sure you thought of it already but mabye not.
Yeah it does. Ive removed my entire back seat just for ease of working on it. The maximum height of the hole going to the back is 14 inches, and my box is 16, and I cant expand it any more because its welded together.

I've thought of that, I just know I will have a hard time constructing it since I will have about a 1 inch gap for about 12 inches from the front of the box that I will somehow have to screw in. And it doesnt help if I come in from the side either, cause I got about a 3 inch gap there. For the time being, I have all the carpet, panels, spare tires, everything is out from the back floorboards to the trunk. My sub will also be ported and pointed into the passenger area, and sealed off. Thats what makes it hard //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

"Thats what makes it hard" - That's what she said

Built this from scrap wood. Not gonna stay if anyone is thinking that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Also, the second board from the top is where the box would be sealed off. The trunks front is sloped back, so that piece of wood also signifies the top of the top that I could build on. I know it isnt the best picture, but it was one I had on file from a old design.

I've done that, it took a right angle drill bit attachment, copious amounts of Liquid nails and more patience than I had, at times.

It worked well except for the center port board came loose causing the box to rattle, I need to install 1"X1"X18" wood pieces and glue/screw them in to attach/reinforce the port walls.

So my advice to you is to use some reinforcements on the inside of the box.

That install was 2 Phoenix Gold Xenon 12s in 5.5 cubes tuned to 33 hz subs/port firing forward. That was in my buddys 03 mustang.

I'm doing the same thing as you are right now with 2 mojo 15's in a civic, I just had to tear down my box cause I got lazy and threw it all together. Do it right the first time!!! Lol. Kind of hard to explain but glue and screw some 1 inch wide brackets to your port walls and your sides top and bottom. By doing this you can get everything up either from the face or rear of your box. Sorry man but I can't think of a better way to explain it.

haha, believe it or not, that was exactly what I was thinking. Great minds think alike?

I finalized the design last night, making first cuts today, wish me luck.
