Connecting Tweets to HU

I just got some crappy insignia tweets for cheap, but i want to install them just for now so i can get a little more treble until i get some new speakers. on the tweets its a pos/neg (brass/silver) connection but where would i connect them to the head unit? do i need some other wires or adapter of some sort?

You can connect them to you front speaker wires and be fine. Of course I don't know if your front staged is amped or not, but that would be the simplest way to go.

Speaker outs on the back of the HU. Run wire to the tweeter. If it's a stock HU, there's already wire running to the doors. You will need a high pass filter though as you don't want to run full range to the tweeters.

Grab a capacitor from your local Radio Shack. The mF will depend on the crossover point. Generally, 3kHz is a good place to start. You'll probably want to look at something right around 15mF(microfarad). You will simply wire this in-line with the speaker wire, say positive wire to capacitor, then capacitor to tweeter positive lead. Then the other lead of the tweeter gets connected to the negative wire. The capacitor blocks lower frequencies from being sent to the tweeter, protecting it from over excursion and damage.

Sorry I should of left more information - My HU is a Pioneer P390MP. I currently have all the stock speakers still installed.

Now this capacitor you speak of.. Is it a different kind of capacitor? What I mean by that is many people on this forum think capacitors are useless, so i've stayed far away from them.

I dont think its a cap ur thinking of this one cuts off certain frequancys so only high freq go to the tweets so they dont blow from playing low freq a must //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
