NEED HELP!! bottens not working on head unit

Ok heres the deal, i had a sony cdx-m730 and my volume botten wasnt working, It will only work with my controller. So i wanted to see if it was the Head Unit and i traded my head unit for my friends head unit which is a sony cdx-m800, basically the same head unit so it was a plug and play. Now, with the New Head unit (cdx-m800) the same thing is happening, the volume botten on the head unit doesnt work. But it works with the controller. I checked the wiring but i'm confused, i dont know what wire to look for.

never mind, i found the problem, it was a short on my wiring harness
