confused on what to do

alright im really need to invest in a new computer. i have a dell from like 8 years ago. i dont need any thing fancy i just want to be able to surf the e net fast and be able to burn cds and listin to music. the kicker is i dont want to spend over 350 bones. should i upgrade what i have now? get a custom tower built. or just go buy a tower from bb or cc? my old comp has no cd burner and has windows xp.

if anything, see if someone on here will put together a parts list for you, then you buy the parts and put them together. install OS and done

^^^^and the parts have slots they fit in....so you can not fock it up

well you can fock it up if you modify things like that, but for the most part it is "plug and play"

its pretty straight forward...

1. pick a case (i always go with ones that already have a power supply. im not a gamer and i havent had one go out on me yet. go with something 400w+)

2. motherboard (look for one with integrated sound and video, if you're not a gamer or care about sound quality that much)

3. cpu/heatsink

4. memory (id go with at LEAST 512mb, try for 1gb though)

5. hard drive/s (go at least 150gb)

6. optical drives (id go with 2, 1 dedicated cd burner/dvd-rom, 1 dedicated dvd burner)

7. floppy drive (if you want)
