i would have at least 3". here is a cool way of angling the front baffle so you have more clearance, and also so you have more mounting depth for the magnet.

where did you get that info?
Out of the link you posted - which was the owner's/installation manual. Said manual happens to contain the T/S (Thiele/Small) specifications of the DAT M6 subwoofer. According to the manual if you have the dual-2 M610 then the Xmax(mm) is 15. If you have the dual-4 M610 then your Xmax(mm) is 16.
Xmax(mm) = maximum excursion (cone travel) measured in millimeters
