Cone Area > Driver Airspace?

To what point does the cone area make up for the lack of airspace.

Examples: (All drivers in 2.2cu.ft. enclosure @ 32hz)

1.) 1 12" = 113.10 sq.in. (2.2 per driver)

2.) 2 12" = 226.20 sq.in. (1.1 per driver)

3.) 2 10" = 157.08 sq.in. (1.1 per driver)

4.) 3 10" = 235.62 sq.in. (0.7 per driver)

5.) 3 8" = 150.81 sq.in. (0.7 per driver)

6.) 4 8" = 201.08 sq.in (0.55 per driver)

Now this MAY be subwoofer dependant, but what im trying to figure out is what would be the best application out of these 5 to move more air (make more efficient=louder) but also have enough airspace so they aren't sufforcating. Maybe there's an equation to figure this out?

What?

EDIT: Moving air is dependent on the cone area, and the cone travel (easiest way to compare is xmax). The airspace of the enclosure doesn't really affect how much air you move unless you count the compression in smaller enclosures and such...but that's more complicated than you're looking for here.

Also, airspace needed for performance is driver dependent...for example an eD 15A does extremely well in 2.2 cubes ported, where as a 15 SX needs at least 3.5 to really start to shine. Comparing on the basis you are isn't relevant....airspace is driver dependent. Now, in general, the more cone area, the larger the enclosure needs to be, but it's not as cut and dry as that...that only stands to say that a 12 and a 15 of the same driver will need different volume enclosures
