? concerning dual ports for a single sub

well here the plan, i have a single 12" fi q, and ill be tuning around 28 - 30 hz. I have a big trunk car, and really want to take advantage of its width. so i was going for dimensions like 38.5 wide x 14.5 height x 15.5 - 16.5 width. now i really want to use this big width but i think it would look akward having a port on only one side and the sub far away. i was thinking of having my fi q centered and run 2 L ports to the front sides of the box

Something like you see with dual sub setups

Now here the ?

How would i go about figuring out how much width and length and area i would need of the port, i have single port plans of a 2.5 cu ft. box @ 30hz after displacements and stuff and i have a port area of 40, port length of 39 and port width of 3.25, how would i turn this into a dual L port design, im pretty sure you dont just divide by 2 :).

would a maze port actually be better then an L port for going for a dual port on a single sub?

Help me out and guide me, if one of you guys wants to work on one, use the dimensions above

My only question is whether or not you want the dual port for anything besides aesthetics. Generally, if you paint the port properly and center the sub on the BAFFLE, then it looks quite nice.

only problem with port into cabin is my rear deck and my trunk lid closing bracket are sort of wierd and in the way. i have the bar that goes all the way across and moves up and down 1 inch. plus my height cant get any bigger for a port on the bottum. it is just for looks

Ill show pimp and see if it will be a big pain to do rear deck port but i dont think it'll happen.

I believe.... And I just woke up so I might be wrong that the port length is total vent area.

So, if to tune your box to 30 Hz if you had 40 SQ in of port and it was 12" long and you made that into two ports of 20SQ in they both would still be 12" long.....

I think.....

Why not something like this. I have always like this design.

im running an enclosure similar to that in my car right now. lol

and yes if you have a single port that is for example H:12" x W:4" L:20" you can convert that to a dual port by making it H:12" x W:2" x L:20" X 2 ports. it will maintain the same tuning.

i cant seem to get a good single port design to work with to then convert it to a dual port. i guess i just have to do a single L port :-(.

Should you place the driver in the middle between the port and end wall or more toward the opposite end of the port?
