CompVR sucks too much power

Thats what i got setup till i get the bugs worked out. I have a problem tho. I just bought this 12" Kicker CompVR for 20 bucks. It came with the shitty box as well. I have a Sony Xploud 760 watt amp, witch i think is 400 RMS. Anyways, i have the Sub wired in 2ohms, and on one voice coil. This is the only way i can get the thing to hit, without catching on fire/overcurrent. My problem is, i still get overcurrent, and i can't hardely hear/feel the thing in the car. I blame the box mostly for the sound, but overcurrent, IDK? My amp should be plenty powerfull enough to power this thing. i've got a 4guage power cabel to a distribution block, witch feeds 8 guage to the amps, and then it feeds 8guage ground to a ground distribution block, and 4 guage ground. I have a jvc 201 headunit(CRAPTASTIC) It only has one pre amp, and the rca cable is split at the 2 channel 760 amp, and im useing the HPF on the amp to filter out the high's, and then the rca is spliced after this and goes into the 5 channel 700 watt Sony Xploud amp that i have powering the components. I have the LPF set on that thing, and i have it eq'd to where i like it. Once i get a new headunit, i can do away with all this spliceing/splitting shit, and hook it up properly. But my question is, is there any way to wire this sub into 4ohm? I think that would solve my overcurrnent problem. If you need anymore information please let me know, and i'll try to answer you question. Help please...

huh?

i have two 8" CVR's in my sisters car (just installed them) on 250RMs a piece, and they frigging slam.

first off, if you want loud, trash the crappy prefab sealed box and build a ported box. theres a tutorial in the enclosure design section. the output will improve dramatically

and secondly, learn how to wire your shit

Thats what this subforum is for. THats why i am asking. I know the box sucks, but i should be able to power this woofer at full power without orloading the amp.

so theres only one preout?
yea. When i bought the car it was sad. It had 2 10 guage power cabels coming off the battery with 40amp fueses. One cable per amp, and it had two 10 guage ground cables, in two diffrent grounding locations. It had two shitty *** dual subs. The only thing they did half way right was the components are pioneer CVR102's, and even then they aren't that good.

So anyone know what i could do?

that box looks awfully small, maybe its just the angle. but like suggested before, id build a ported box for it and that should help alot. you still should be feeling a difference though so maybe you wiring it wrong?

That's where you went wrong. The HPF filters out the lows...allowing the highs to pass...hence "high pass filter". Also, what do you mean by "overcurrent"?

Try turning off all filters and running everything open ended. It will probably sound like crap but I'm guessing you'll have more bass response. If this works, then your HPF/LPF were set wrong and you just need to play with those more.

Am I the only one that laughed hysterically when reading that? You are powering 1 coil, you can't properly spell xplod when it is in the ****ing pic, you're rca's have been split and ****ed more than a **********, I don't know what more you could possibly do to fail worse than you already have.

like i said before i am not the one who came up with the rca's. who gives a **** if i spell xplod wrong, they are shit either way. Also, i do have the LPF on the 2 chan. amp, and the HPF on the 5 chan. That was the only mistake i said. I guess i was right, i have my gians turned all the way up so i can hear the sub, and dont get me wrong i can hear it, but it's no where close to the old subs i had(also not my idea to put in here) But there were 2 12 inch duals. Dont hate me. But i am working on a proper size box. Should i got vented or sealed. I kinda think i want seald cuz i can make a smaller box, and its easier

Oh and guessing the box size is 12x12 high, and maybe 4 deep on the top, and 6 deep on the bottom. Small as ****. But i have it all sealed up with silicone, and i still have a little bit of air escaping between the baffel and the sub.

Everything is wired correctly, i am just wondering if there is a way i can wire it diffrently. If i wire it dual coil, i can hardely power it at all without over loading my amp.

Overcurrent is what my amp says. The subs are drawing too much power, and instead of frying the amp, it shuts off.
