Ok. I just upgraded my sound card to a 24-bit Creative Sound Blaster. Now, the old speakers I had for my computer sound awful. I had some RCA speakers lying around, so I decided to take the speakers out of them and see if they would work. They came out of a 100w max. shelf system. They are 50w max. and 6ohms each. The problem is if I get them within about 6 inches of my computer monitor, it messes with the screen. I don't have that much room on my desk to be able to move them around.

Is there anything I can put inside the box I am going to build for them to stop the interference?

Buy some real PC speakers. You just spent $$ on a sound card; why not make it worth your while by connecting it to some good speakers?

X2

And who the hell has Tube monitors anymore?

I wouldn't hook a 6 ohm speaker up to my new soundcard with out an amplifier in between.

The sound card is made to drive high impedance with very little power. Hooking up a 6 ohm speaker might damage it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

the monitor i have is only like 5 years old and still has a great picture on it so i figure why replace it if it aint broke so unless some one is going to buy one for me or give me one the same size as this witch is 20 in il keep using mine till it goes out . then ill go out and buy an lcd one . I just wanted to use the speakers cause i had them laying around and not being used so i thought i could use them . and the only thing i see for computer speakers as far as a 2.1 system are some with little 2-2 1/2 speakers so i thought if i used these i could get away with only having to have a 2.0 system and have the 2 be a full range speaker. but i guess not and this is the sound card i have http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?product=14257

It's not a question about being a Luddite, it's just that for a music server, having any monitor really gets the job done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If I decide to go with a fanless PC instead of a Squeezebox, I've been thinking about a big LCD touchscreen...but for now, I'd rather spend that kind of money on a turntable first //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
