thanks in advance

Doesnt seem like a heat problem...go through the comp and check everything. Unplug all unnecessary things until you can get it to run, cd drives, video card, sound card, etc.

Once you get it to run, plug one thing in at a time and find the problem.

Oh, nevermind what i said above, you said it reboots at random? Theres an option somewhere in windows that causes it to reboot whenever it goes over a certain temp, which is probably set ridiculously low. Look for that and disable it, and look for everything else that may cause windows to want to reboot...i know there is some option that tells it to do so.

Not entirely sure, but I don't think that there is a setting like that in Windows, but rather it's in the BIOS. And please correct me if I'm wrong, but it won't reboot the machine, only turn it off when it reaches that temperature to prevent overheating.

Sounds to me (as mentioned by `prodigy) to be an undersized or malfunctioning power supply. 350W should be more than enough for a bare bones system as you have described, so it sounds more like the power supply is taking a $hit on you. If you have another machine laying around, just borrow the power supply from it for testing.

You neglected to list your operating system, but I assume it's Win2K or XP. The default mode of those OS's is to reboot on certain critical errors. It could be bad RAM or a hardware driver but you'll never know unless you allow Windows to display the error (Blue Screen Of Death) without rebooting.

There's a setting in the control panel for this...

My Computer->Properties->Advanced->Startup and Recovery

Uncheck the "Automatically Reboot" box.

After that Windows will not reboot on system failure and you might get an error message to clue you as to what's happening.

kewl i'll keep ya posted i still wana check out your system I'm Currently looking at a few box designs to see which will be better for me.

i think i figured out the problem the memory slot on the mother board i moved it over 1 and now its ok :) go figure?

that i have done and it says bad_Pool_Header??? any idea on that 1????
Do a Google search on that and you'll find a bunch of stuff. Typically it's with Win XP S.P. 2 and has to do with hardware drivers.. DVD's, USB flash drives, etc. Maybe you get lucky and your RAM exchange fixes it for good, but I doubt it.

is there a fix for this yet with service pack 2 the memory thing didnt fix it but if i underclock my pc it runs fine so until i figure somethign out im stuck @ 1.5ghz instead of 2.2
