I built my first computer a while back. It ran well for about a year then i began having problems. The first problem i had was that my computer was really hot, so hot that it would warm up the room an extra 5-7 degrees. The power started cutting out to the computer so i replaced the power supply. I come back today and when i start the computer none of my devices receive power (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.) I take off the case to find that the cpu is really really hot, so hot that it almost smells like it's burning.

My monitor is plugged into a video card so im guessing the mobo isnt really the problem, but what else could it be?

I'm running an intel core 2 duo procc as 1.66ghz. My mobo is a lower line gigabyte model, im running an nvidia 8900gt and thats about it. What can this issue be?

use a water cooled system to greatly reduce heat in your room.

as for no power getting to any of the external devices i can't say. could be the power supply

lol comp shuts down if it doesnt have a hsf, i had mine fall off one time

and no isnt a 8900gt, im assuming u mean a 8600gt

Yes

and it is an 8600gt for the vid card
