Computer help

So whats your opinions of the celeron d 3.3ghz.....would this be a decent processor or should I take advantage of the new technology spend a little more and get a newer processor such as the core 2 duo but less ghz

I asked my dad and he sais the only difference in the cor 2 duo is some math miroprocessor it has. He is all about saving the money and buying an older technology but higher ghz. He said that very few programs would ever need this kind of math processing. So do again do you think I should get a higher ghz processor but an older model IE celleron or get a less ghz processor but with the newer technology?

Your dad is an idiot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Maybe when it comes to computers. He is a stiffler with money and is trying to convince me to go the cheap way out. With that being said he is a chemist at a Nuclear plant (SRS) where he is the head nuclear wast managment person. He also trains FBI agents how to clean up nuclear bombs or any type of radioctive substance found in america. Dumbass about computer yes.....idiot no

Yea i think im set on getting a core 2 duo for not letting me make the mistake of buying the other one. I have a pentium 4 2.4ghz in my laptop and it seems to keep uo with anything I do but my laptop is on the verge of distinction which I why I am getting a desktop very soon.

celerons ****, if you want dual core cheaper get a pentium d or an amd x2

nothing really compares to a c2d processor right now

the 1.86ghz c2d e6300 kills any 3+ghz pentium or celeron so thinking higher processor speed will equal a lower c2d is wrong

i switched from a 2.4ghz single core to a 1.86ghz dual core and every cpu intensive app i use takes about 1/3 the time to complete
