computer help please

hey guys i could use some help please. i want to put to gether a computer. im looking to do it over some time. i dont have a computer but i did in the past. i want to play games. but im not looking to play the newer pc games that are out. i will need every thing.motherboard,cpu,ram,harddrive,dvdrom,videocard,soundcard,case/powersurply and all wires. i want to start with a motherboard cpu first. i want a dual core p4 or at least a high p4 and a motherboard that can handle at least 3 gig of ram. i need some web sites or any idea please. im not looking to spend alot. cuz it will be bult over a few weeks or so and i dont want to spend lets say 250 and its real old. thanks. i do need a pretty fast cpu.

so the p4 dual core 2.2 for 85 is good deal. so thats 4.4 and the motherboard can handle 4 gigs. and it can take a pci video card. i do need some sites so i can shop around. i checked newegg, ebay, and the site that has the dual core for 85. i dont know the site name. i do have it saved

For $250 you can probably get something that will allow you to check your email and login the internet thats about it.

For a mid-level PC I would day $500-600 and you are still not going to be able to play all the new games and the PC will get outdated faster.

My suggestion would be spend $1000-1200 and build a nice rig that will last you a few years.

i know about the quad core. i went to bestbuy and they tryed to sell me a floor model for 800 dollars. i said no way and left. i dont have alot of money. i understand do not buy crap but i dont need the computer to be able to go on line or be really great. i use my pda for the internet . i dont wont to play against other people online. i will put alot of ram and a good video card. i wont be playing newer games. example rome and wow games like that.

my girls dad got cases and windows xp with key code so im good. i checked ebay. these guys are selling there gaming used computers for like 600 or better. i am thinking of waiting. i dont wont to do a build and its just shit.what about p4 dual core 2.2 85.00 free shipping and mother board 45dollers. they do have better boards. up to 350.00.

Grand Total: $980.67

Wether you need a case or an operating system this system here will do and play anything you throw at it for at least 3-4 years. with shipping and taxes (depending on where your from) its $980.67 and we can go lower if you need be.

you can get better deal for that price.. since your more on a budget then most then you should look into an AMD setup there is faster/ cheaper amd processors over the P4. trust me..

have you not been listening? the Pentium 4 Dual Core's are NOT WHAT YOU WANT.

Cheap products will net you a shitty computer.

long story with abit back in the day when they lost one of there best engineers to DFI but abit is still rock soild company

wow thanks. i checked out the links. let me ask i seen a dual core 2.2 is there a big drop off from that 3.0 dual core. i like the ram price. i think i can get a case and op system for free. i do not like amd i had a emachine with a amd setup. i hated it. so no amd or less it will be less then 980 dollers and will do well. guys im not looking for a top of the line system , older games here. i would want a better motherboard as part of my system . so i could go with a better dual core in a few months when prices comes down. so a good mothetboard that can support a cpu upgrade in a few months would be a good start. thanks

i am hearing what u guys are saying. but are u hearing me. ok i dont need top of the line. its cool u guys can put together a nice setup for me. thank you but i cant do that much. if u guys are saying hold off save the money then i am hearing that. i do like the help i was looking for links to sites. i can do the buld my self. but the lack of funds is hurting me.

Hey totthemax if your really on a tight budget then I would go with an amd setup there's nothing wrong with them and in the real world and benchmarks to the side you wouldn't notice much of a difference until you start using heavy apps besides for your needs imo amd is your friend despite all you hear about intel vs amd they both get you where you want to go. I built a lot of computers in my time and own 7 both amd and intel systems and all work like the day I put them together. so don't let people pressure you into something you don't need if your not going to use it, I'm not saying anybody his but I seen it happen a lot. btw before people start bashing what I mean by "wouldn't notice much of a difference" is as in general usage not gaming, decodeing, encodeing, converting...
