computer guys wana help me ?

hey guys i have a gateway desktop model number gt56683. i got virus a few months back . stupid me i forgot to back up my drivers so i went ahead and installed a copy of windows xp. now my soundcard dont work nor does my ethernet card. both came with the computer and i wana add i upgraded my video card and now the computer dont see my card so im back using the intergraded video card. i was told i have to buy a new windows vista 32bit. if anyone thinks they can help please do. thanks

Well... If that card requires vista to run? then yes you would need vista but that's probably not the case, and I would never recommend vista with windows 7 out.

So, you installed the card properly and installed the drivers and your computer does not recognize it? First step would be uninstalling it completely and re-installing it, also making sure of the power supply requirements on the video card.

i got a new power supply a few months back. tbh im pretty good with computers i cant understand why i did not back up my drivers such a stupid move. anyways im not worried about the video card its the sound card. im on the computer now i got a usb wireless internet card for 30ish at wally world. i want my sound card to work along with the ethernet card as well. the video card i can go ahead and download a driver from the company website. i was told i need to reinstal windows vista so my sound card etc will work again. when i check my computer then go to hardware it shows its there but not in working order pretty much. there is that caution icon .

if u have an external sound card, google the name of it and dl the drivers. if u have onboard sound, google the computer type gateway blah blah and see if they have drivers available for download

sounds like u have put some money into this old thing, u could have already built a new one

you just have to do as cruzer said, google the computer make/model and the card and download the drivers to a flash drive and transfer/run on that computer

cant get drivers for intergarted soundcard and ethernet card. i put xp on my computer and there is no drivers for xp. only vista and i did check out gateways website and there was driver updates but for just vista. so anyways around this ?

Try it anyways. Vista is just a facelift version of XP. It has the same core.

find out what model/chipset each piece of hardware is running on. you can get the right drivers just not from gateway.

Go to start> right click my computer > manage >Device manager

look for the ones with the yellow triangle or question mark on them

right click > then click properties

click on teh resources tab and give me the Vendor ID and Device ID for the ones that you dont have installed.

Ill find your drivers.
