Computer guy - i fudged my sound when unplugging the pc.. get this message now

just google the manufacturer and model number of your pc and add "drivers" to the end

although if you havent restarted yet i would try that, windows may auto detect it and reinstall

My pc is a HP Pavillion A1222N with Xp

I did try a restart a few times. Nothing changes

download that. thats the drivers for your soundcard.

once its done take ss's of the folder and ill take some too and show you where to put them and how to install them if it doesnt do it automatically (sometimes will sometimes wont lol)

uninstall the unimodem half-duplex audio device and restart... should work does for me when I have this problem with my onboard sound

Have you ever used Remote Assistance? Might be your best bet.

It wont let me reinstall or update drivers as I dont have the cd do to so

Haven't read the whole thread, but if you are using external speakers did you make sure the plug from the speakers is plugged into the right input? The green one I believe. As many times as I have knocked out my computer's power, I've never had an issue where everything but the sound is working.

You can try the Realtek audio drivers too. Go to download.com and search for realtek. It might give you 2 sets. AC97 and HD something. Download them both and it should only install the one that it it needs.

If that does not work, I can only suggest buying another sound card. They are not that expensive.
