CompuStar problem

Hello,

Yesterday my friends co-worker had her boyfriend install the CompuStar 2WSHR (http://www.compustar.com) for my 2000 Mustang V6. He works at a local shop.

Everything works properly; Remote, remote notifications, unlock/lock, trunk release, remote start, query (if anything is open), the remote paging system, etc. Since yesterday my car alarm has gone off randomly approx. 7 different times. There is no cat going on my car, no one hitting it, or even a loud enough vibration from a truck / bass. With that said I am looking for an explanation since I have tried it with 3 sensitivity, 2, and then I just tried it with it 'off'.

After the alarm goes off of course the remote start does not work. When I tried to remote start it the display shows the trunk as open yet the trunk isn't actually open. Do you think a loose wire could be the problem? Any other suggestions or feedback would help. I especially would appreciate anyone having this type of problem, even if its not the same car.

Thanks

edit: his shop is closed on Sundays and when I tried calling they were having a party today so no one answered.

If I am not mistaken, the alarm door triggers need to be diode isolated. After a while (usually 30 minutes or so) the car's ECU goes into a standby mode which causes a false on the alarm. Is it the door trigger that is being shown on your 2 way remote when it goes off?

No, from what I recall on the two way remote it just says the alarm is going off. I've done it so many times I don't bother looking at the remote anymore, just turning it off is what matters.

Update from today: I brought it to the guy who installed it. He added a relay to the door and the trunk (because the trunk was being shown as open AFTER the alarm would go off randomly and I would do a status check or try to use the remote start). Everything is working great on the alarm side. No random alarms going off, and everything works. However, now it seems the alarm does not go off at all during remote start. I can get out of the car with my key in hand and close the door, but it doesn't shut off. I have to turn it off via remote and then afterwards, the remote start doesn't work. Is it not recognizing the door now? wtF.

This alarm and remote start combo is an excellent choice. Good product, great install but I think it has to just do with Ford's and particularly Mustang's. Just not my week I suppose. I'm going back tomorrow to check this out. Hopefully it works out.

If anyone has had this problem before please let me know what you did to fix it or any other information you might think is helpful is much appreciated.

When I took it back it was a faulty relay that he replaced / took out. Other than that I'm not 100% sure on what he did after that. However, the problem is fixed and my alarm / remote start is working.

If anyone else encounters this problem or any others that I mentioned you can email me @ gsbk25@hotmail.com and I will give you my installers number. I won't be checking the forum messages or this post anymore, please do not msg.

Thanks.
