I voted CTX, but I also really like the Polk MM which can be found sometimes for about $200

I'm glad you posted this. I was just researching 6.5" for my truck. I think I will need two sets of tweeters and 6.5s. When I was "in" the car audio scene over ten years ago, Boston Acoustics led the market, hands down. Looks like they still produce some good stuff.

Depends how much power you are givin em and how low you wanna go lol, when I had a pair I was givin em a true 100w rms and crossed at 70hz 18db slope and they did just fine. I think the IDs do better in the 70-200hz range, but I had two completely different installs between them and the polks. The Polks tweets sound a bit "laid back" compred, but the overall response seems more level and "live".

Depends how much power you are givin em and how low you wanna go lol, when I had a pair I was givin em a true 100w rms and crossed at 70hz 18db slope and they did just fine. I think the IDs do better in the 70-200hz range, but I had two completely different installs between them and the polks. The Polks tweets sound a bit "laid back" compred, but the overall response seems more level and "live".

I likez to really juice my comps lol they'll get anywhere from 150 per side to 300+ depending on how I'm feeling at install time lol

But, seriously, I have a few options for power around here...just depends on what they like. If they can play down to about 63hz 12db slope without breaking up or bottoming at high volumes I'll be satisfied. I'll be running 2 sets so I'm pretty sure that makes for enough output down there as long as they hold their composure...

I'm between the IDs, Polk MM, and Boston SRs right now....maybe eclipse sc6500 if I could get a matching coax....

I wouldn't bother with the eclipse speakers, good budget comps, but the other options you're considering are a world of difference imo.

Well now you're throwing the SR's into the mix? lolI wouldn't bother with the eclipse speakers, good budget comps, but the other options you're considering are a world of difference imo.

I mean I'd be willing to buy the SR's...my only problem with going BA is that I've had or installed every one of their comp sets except for the SPZ's and I'm really looking to try something different too. It'd also be good to have other budget comp sets to vouch for when people join and ask for nice comp sets...I think I'm gonna go CTX this time...

found these on ebay (RAINBOW SLC 265.25 NG 6.5" COMPONENT SET SPEAKERS | eBay) I was thinking about going with but they don't make a matching coax......

Just go CTX's man lol. 9/10 that hear em love em. Some complain bout the tweets being harsh, but I didn't think so. Now my Infinity Kappa's, those bishes are harsh lol
