Hi guy, noob is in, please don't kill me right away //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have 08 Altima sedan with Kenwood DNX 5120 installed. It has 4 pre-amp outputs (2 for the front, 2 for the rear) , NO pre-sub output.

I'm looking for a sound system. Since hardcore techno/drum'n'bass is 90% of what i listen to then obviously i need loud, clear, deep bass.

Upon researching i've come across this set up:

- Component speakers in the front door + amp

- NOTHING in the rear deck (oem speakers are taken out)

- Sub(s) in the trunk + amp

Any of u guys have this set up? If so

- how many watts (rms) in the front components?

- how many watts (rms) in the sub?

Obviously the sub has to be more powerfull, just wanna see the ratio.

What do u think of this?

Aslo i'm open to syggestions and critisizm. Budget for all (not including install) would be just a little over a $1,000

really $1000 will get you really far if you buy used.

Get some

ID oem mids or mpyre

any decent 150x2 amp for the fronts

and for the sub.... well way too many choices

there is a guy selling some older jl 12w6's for $75 a pop

no rears for me. i never really had an ***.. oh well

I don't really care about the rms of my speakers. I Just adjust to where they blend with each other, while being thermally safe and undistorted.

I think i already know what comps i want for the front door:

Polk Audio db6501 - 199$ Crutchfield

6-1/2" component speaker system

4-ohm impedance

power range: 10-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)

frequency response: 35-23,000 Hz

sensitivity: 92 dB

top-mount depth: 1-11/16"

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-zzE1LiH0KSN/p_107DB6501/Polk-Audio-db6501.html?tp=106

I'll get a proper amp for it, but how powerfull subs should be??? I don't wanna overload rear seat passengers with bass so they don't even hear the music from front comps but at the same time i wanna find that "golden middle" to feel the bass myself.

The rear pre-outs are for rear OR sub. If you put the system into Standby mode (Go to the full source select menu, scroll down, hit "Standby"), you can change the 2nd pre-out to sub, and it will give you independent subwoofer control.

Oh snap!! didn't know that.

So what u're saying is that i can control my sub(s) loudness and such from my headunit??? That def helps in the process of picking stuff out, gives me more room to play with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The DNX5120 is a full-featured Entertainment and Navigation system with USB Direct Control for iPods or other portable music devices. With built-in Garmin navigation technology, the DNX5120 has maps of the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico and includes over 6 million Points of Interest. This all-in-one unit also features a 6.1” LCD touchscreen with a user-programmable start-up, variable-color illumination of the front panel controls, and two RCA 2V Preouts for system expansion.

there is a front and a Rear/Sub....you can switch between making the 2nd pre-out for a rear amp or for a sub amp.....that is if you have that exact model...
