Components in home theater system

I have two older 12" Type R subwoofers and plan on building a box and using a plate amp to power them.

The qeustion is can I use a car audio component set for the mids and highs? Can I just use the receiver to power them?

Also would 150 watts for each of the subwoofers be enough for a home theater system. As I understand you don't really need as much wattage in a house to make it loud.

I would see why not...

In a set of bookshelf speakers its all the same. A mid-range, tweeter and crossover. Just build a proper enclosure and power them
