Components for my 02 blazer

Just picked up a 02 blazer zr2 with the bose system. It sounds better than most of my previous cars factory systems, but I'd like to upgrade the front doors with some new components. Currently it has 6.75" bose speakers with the tweet in the dash. I'd like to pick up a set of comps for 100-150. I know it's not much $, but I figured I should be able to get much better speakers than I have now within my budget. I'll be powering them with either a jbl 105x4 or eclipse 75x4.

I was just going to stick my 6.5 PG rsd's in there, but thought I'd see what you guys thought. Would I be better off trying some polks, id's, jl c2's? Should I stick with 6.5 or move up to 6.75?

I don't like harsh tweets, and I like a bit more mid bass.

thanks

you need to mat your doors then, also should look at spending a little more for a better set of comps.
I know I should, but at this point I'd just like to stick some speakers in. I'm not sure what my plans for the blazer are going to be, so I don't want to sink a bunch of money into it at this point.

I'm not sure if I really want to take the rsd's out of my other car. And with them being up around 150 a set now, I thought they're may be some better alternatives than picking up another set.

Also, I'll have an 8" sub in the rear.

Boston Acoustics SE or SC series (best midrange in this list, some ppl find BA tweeters bright, I love them.)

JL C2s'(nice detailed tweeters, very smooth, but set is too "laid back" for some ppl)

Pioneer D Series ( best midbass in this list, smooth tweet, but take some EQ work around 2.5khz to tame a peak)

Those are ones I have experience with in the range. The Boston SEs are VERY efficient btw. Don't count the Pioneers out because it's Pioneer either, they are some very nice comps for the money and the midbass is very strong!

Another set I hear good things about is the Massive CK6V's. I have yet to try some but I hear the midbass, in a proper install, is crazy; and the new versions fixed the tweeter issue some people were having. I'd love to try some.

in that price range the cdt cl 61 ,or the boston se,are both very nice ,i liked the cdt better tho.i can get you a set of arc audio components in that range to
I'm gonna have to try some of the CDT stuff one day. It seems to be a hate it or love it thing with them. Those who like them REALLY like them and vice versa.

I'm looking hard at the jl c2's now. What do you mean by "laid back"?

With the either love it or hate it on the cdt's, I'd rather not gamble if I can't hear them before hand.

Also, should I go with 6.5 or 6.75?

spend more money and get the cdt hd61 comps ,they will give you nice mid bass with no mat but they are 275 a set shipped on sale now normal cost is 399
I really don't want to spend that kind of money. Like I said, I'm not sure what I'm going to be using this truck for, so I don't want to spend 300 on comps, 900 on a nav receiver, etc, even though thats what I want to do, lol. Right now I'm just looking to stay at or below 150. I'm liking the jl's right now.

Any thoughts on memphis?

Or anything on the 6.5 vs 6.75?

thanks

By laid back, I mean they don't have a very in your face type sound that some ppl like. They are very smooth sounding is the best way I can think to describe em. Not everyone likes that though.

As for Memphis comps, had some m class sync comps and wasn't impressed. I liked the Pioneers better.

Thanks for the info. What do you think about the 6.5 vs 6.75 set? Are there any benifits from going one way or the other?
