Hey fellas..

What exactly IS a component system...

And, are they worth putting in a car if I'm looking for...good sound quality, and so I can hear the words an artist sings, ect..?

Component systems are speakers that have seperate tweeters, woofers, mid bass, etc. They are normally considered to have better sound quality than regular coaxial speakers. I'd say yes, it is worth putting them in.

agreed, component systems give much better sound quality while also bringing better mids up front...i'm gonna get them sometime, i also suggest you use a separate amp to power them instead of your head unit, but it won't hurt to use your h/u power

So..

If I bought a component system....um...do I need to buy regular speakers to replace my stock ones as well...or is that what a component system is.?

here's a pic of what most regular stock speakers look like (coaxials) -

now here's a picture of a component system -

the coaxial speaker tries to do everything at once, while the component system has a dedicated woofer for mids and a tweeter for highs...they don't exactly REPLACE your stock speaker, but you will use them instead of your stocke speakers. notice in the component speaker picture, the panel that the component speaker is placed in is known as the kickpanel. i'm pretty sure that every component system (atleast half-decent ones) comes with a crossover so the woofer only gets lower frequencies and the tweeter only gets higher frequencies.

forgive me for my ignorance! how do you attach that (Component Speakers ) there in the kick panels? i havent seen any instructions on that? just a novice trying to learn!

If you're asking what I think you're asking...then all you do is screw the speakers into the kick panels?

You kind of have two options. You can buy pre-made kickpanels like Qlogic Qforms. Or you can have custom ones built for your car and speakers.

i checked the picture and look for that same area ( refer Jmac's pic and violator's 2nd pic ) so i was wondering there should be an installation fixture that needs to be bought and screw it at the location? if there is a fixture to be bought where and how much? planning to place a GTO605 component there!@
