Component choices..

The Focal tweets are a love or hate thing, it's going to be one of the two...

I'd say for $450 he really deserves to be bi-amping them actively, as opposed to using a passive Xover.

I was going to suggest that. What crossover do you think will be a good choice? Also do you think there are better speakers for the money?

Oops I forgot to mention. The mids are going in kick panels so he needs between 5.25" and 6.5". H/U will be a Eclipse CD5000 and an active crossover. Sorry //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

Also do you think those speakers will out perform the Focals?

those focals kick ***........sure you can get into the headake of mixing and matching

drivers and tweets via madisound to save a few bucks but it gets old fast when

it sounds like crap.......I heard about a dozen active set up's in my life and only

one was impressive and it was not cheap..........good luck

I'd have gotten the Alpine SPX-17PROs instead... can be had for under $400 shipped, and I love them. They basically use the Scanspeak mid and tweet that you'd find on madisound with active components, plus you get some pretty **** impressive passive xovers if you choose to use them. I wasn't SUPER impressed with mine at first, but I went out today for an hour or two and played around with the TA and the gains, and holy hell did they wake up!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

They are 6.75" and I doubt they'll fit in his kick panels. He wants to get them pretty bad.

LMK what the distance is between the mounting holes on the speaker. That will help big time.

Thanks.
