As some of you may have seen my thread in teh H/U Section, Im in the beginning of starting my new system. Now I was Recommended by my cousin, That the Type-R's would be good Speakers. Now I was wondering what other Brands/Models would be comparable to these? I have only Had exp. w/ Alpine and Polk. But I was wondering what other Brands that were comparable or even better in the same price range of Type-R's.

So I guess in simple terms, I was wondering what other brands out there are comparable to the alpines such as the Polk db Series

If This matters any it's going in a 95 240SX

Speakers That Im Looking At:

Alpine Type-R's Component's Front and Coax Rears

Polk Audio db6501 Components Front db651S Coax Rears

how much do you want to spend??

and what are you going to amping them with? jus going to amp the comps and run the rears off the HU?

do you have a substage? if so, i would say forget about the rears!

Alpines and Polks are pretty decent components, but i think we could recommend something better if you gave us a budget

Around the Price Range of the Type-R's so say 300 for Comp and maybe 200 for Coax but you say you wouldn't reccomend the rears if I had a subsatge which I'm looking into 2 Ported Type-R's and yes I do plan on running an amp The RF P400-4

no i really wouldnt recommend rears with subs, you can have em, but i think its a waste

and 300 for comps, I would look into getting some Rainbow SLC265s!!

and get a nice amp to go along with them!

Would a RF P200-2 Amp be to much for these comp's? or perfect?

Also if I do run Rear Coax, what would you rec?

And, how much do these run, site says nothing.

Rainbow SLC265's & SL165's on an RF P400-4, Good set-up?

anyone else having anything to recommend

x2 on the Kicks. Ditch the rears please if you are going to run a sub stage. Honestly with some nice speakers like the rainbows, the rears will only make your sound worse, trust us. I haven't had rears in a long time and I don't regret it one bit. That 240sx is a little car anyways so 2 speakers off enough power will sound great.

^Ok thanx, no rears it is, So SLC265's on a RF P200-2 Amp is a good set-up, am I wrong

Also sorry for the Bajillion and 1 questions it's just that If I'm gonna do this I wanna do it right the first time, unlike most of the ppl down here that run Subs w/ stock mids, pisses me off lol so yeah //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

use woofersect.com for a more fair pricing as far as buying online goes! It'll save you BIG bucks, dont pay retail for type R's. . . . . also there are onlinecarstereo.com and sonicelectronix.com aswell. Woofersect.com is my favorite!

I'll be installing some of those Polk's next week. I'll let you know how they turn out!

With a $500 total budget for speakers, you can buy one heck of a nice front stage and circumvent the rears.

Here' but just a few:

(I'd recommend running a clean 150-200w rms per channel, so bridge your amp.)

Rainbow Powerline CMX265Kick

Polk SR6500

Pioneer TS-C720PRS

lol, I took a phone call between the time I started my last post and when I submitted it. Yeah, by all means spend the entire 500 on the fronts. If you decide later that you just can't live without rears get some coaxils. (but honestly you don't need them).

I had some type-r 6x9 2 ways, and they were NICEEEE.

I had ZERO sound deadening, mounted them on the factory shitty plastic, and they still POUNDED and sounded nice for just 2 measly 6x9s off 40 watts a piece.

great geat speakers for the price IMO.

I had no idea Type R comps were $300. Have you really looked around? I know that the last generation of Type X's were $225-250ish. As far as I know the newer X's are not around yet.
Well there actually 280 MSRP and I know I can find them for cheap but I just wanted to post my price range to see what I could find
