Comp. Speaker Recommendation

Thanks for all the inputs, checkin out the seas lotus rite now.

80INCHES: a focal berilium would be way over my budget. I might be able to afford em, but tht would leave me pennyless to purchase an amp to go with the speakers -_- The utopia be goes for few grands, no?

Just be aware the fabric/silk tweeter on the Reference set is being revised and wont be out for a few months. For a better soft dome tweeter and comparable mid I'd look into the Profi.

I don't have experience with the Lotus Reference set but I do have the Performance set and they're awesome. I've tried out a bunch of different speakers and the Seas have them all beat easily. They're the most detailed and have the best mid/midbass of any speakers I've heard. And from what I've read the reference line is even better.

They have really nice tweets too. They're loud and detailed without being harsh(and I have really sensitive ears).

I get what you are sayin, thats the kind of tweeters Im lookin for. Ive heard the mb quartz q series before, sure the tweeters are detailed, but they are too sharp for my taste. Im lookin for something that is smooth yet crisp.

Btw, I know this might be off topic, but now that you guys're here, what subwoofer would you recommend to supplement my system. I definitely aim for sq not spl. Wouldnt want bass too powerful that it'll drown the speakers. So far Ive been asking around and the reply would almost be the same: JL audio. However, IMO, though JL is powerful, it is not smooth enough for my taste. Anyone recommend high-end sq subwoofers that match well with the comp. mentioned before?

Rainbow Profi ...... Then I suggest you stray from the K2p's....'diamong cutters' as i like to call them.

on your speaker reccomendation I would use the Seas Lotus Reference comps. I've heard them played over all kinds of music and absolutely love them. I'll be getting a set after I sell the current SPL system

X2

Thinking about it .... at this time , the ONLY component speakers I would happily own would be my Rainbows , Polk 6500s , Diamond's D9s , and maybe Boston's Z series .....

I also thought these sounded great when i heard them , but I did have one reservation ..... I did hear them lose their resolution at loud volumes on extremely aggressive music. They just wouldn't play loud enough for me , without changing some of their sound characteristics ......

If I ONLY , and I mean ONLY listened to Jazz , I may find myself owning Dynaudio again .....

Diamond D9's really???? Gotta agree whole heartedly with the rest!
Yeah .... I heard them sound AMAZING in two different cars now ...... With Diamond Audio's speakers , it's all in the EQing ......

I used to own Hex's , and it just blew people away. They CAN be made to sound great , IF you have the time and know how .....

I never heard any complaints from the seas lotus reference. I had them in for about 2 months, the aluminum tweets version and I gotta say I've never heard anything better. I think the power ratings are also very modest. I run mine full active with 250 watts for each mid and 100 watts for each tweeter.

I am convinced that the tweeter is the best for my taste, not replaceable but I was looking to replace the mids with the morel uniflows from a power handling point of view only. The seas mids do smell if I push them really hard, but with 2 and a half times the power reccomandation I can't complain. Now I hear the morels might not be as detailed.... Would there be a difference in midbass at least? 3.5Max6spd what kinda of power are you running to those seas mids? Do morels have anything over these?

Question for you georobu:

At what frequency you cross the Refs and with what slopes? Also where do you have them mounted and in what vehicle?

THanks!!
