Comp. hard drive help..

I want to put a hard drive on my X-mas list for my gf but I have no idea what kind of hard drive I already have (IDE or ATA) How do I tell which one I have already so I can find out which kind to request? Thanks!!

Custom built by a friend of the family who now lives in the Phillipines....

alright. go to start > "right click" my computer > properties > hardware > device manager > then click the little + next to disk drives. it should say ide, sata ... something along the lines of that.

Which one is that, ATA or EIDE.... (eide = IDE, right?)

yea. you will be fine with eide(enhanced ide)
