Common port walls?

Common port walls are like the side top and bottom of the box itself. This way you only need 1 piece to make the port. If the port is not as tall as the box you can still have 2 common walls and will need to make two port pieces. If you place the port in the middle of a box face you will need to make 4 port walls. By using common walls you reduce the port material displacement. I hope this helps

My port is on the drivers side & isn't long enough to need to make an L just goes straight back 19" against the top/bottom pieces so would that be 2 or 3?

 
Top and bottom is two if its in the middle of the side wall. If you slide it all the way to one side you can use the side as the third common wall.
