hey there

i have a rockford fosgate 150s punch

i used to have 2 kenwood kac-818

when it got bout -5c or below my kenwoods would not turn on any thing above -5c and they would

so i returned them and got the fosgate

and now anything below around -10c it does not turn on today the fosgate worked for bout 10 min when i left work at 7pm then i got home ran in the house to use the washroom then i ran back out and started the car back up and the amp did not turn on. i have a good ground and remote wire and i changed the fuse on the power wire to see it that was it and no change

i dont even get the power led on the amp

if it is cold out can that effect the amp?

AJ

Maybe its your headunit not giving the amp the remote feed . Check for power and ground at the amp , Also check the remote lead and see if you ahve power there at the amp , Sounds like you have the same problem with all your amps which tells me its probably not the amps .....

how would i do that

i am sure that there is no breaks in the remote wire and it is good connection from the out put on the deck to the input on the amp

Do you have a volt meter ? Or you could use a test light ( you can make one with a 12 volt bulb and see if it lights ) , Easy way to narrow it down would be give the amp 12 volts on the remote input and see if it comes on , Atleast you would know the problem then

If you dont have any power at the amp end on the remote wire go to the back of the HU and check there , If you dont have it there your HU is obviously not giving it out

hey there again i just went out side and put and volt meter in the power and neg of the amp and when the car is off i got 7.59 and when the car in runnin i get -00.8 on the battey when the car is off i get 13.58

does that tell you anything

You have a power or ground problem if your redings are correct , You should have close to the same readings at the amp as you do at your battery , CHeck the power at the amp by putting the positive lead on the amp power and try a diffrerent ground for the negative side of the meter ( a good ground on sheet metal of the car somewhere and see what your readings do , If they are the same you have a power problem , If they are not the same you have a ground problem , Double CHeck all your connections going to and from your amp !

Originally posted by tbirdsony hey i tryed a different ground and i get about the same volts as before

car off

13.45 @ batt

7.56 @ amp

car runnin

-0.008 at amp
Then the power wire to your amp has a bad connection somewhere

Originally posted by tbirdsony i only have the one amp and i have a power block one 0 ga in to 4 four ga could that be the problem?
Hmm , Check the block itself , Check on both sides for power and see if its the sameon both , I bet this is your prob ! the block is probably not making a good conection on the fues , Is it a cheap block ?

yes i got it for like 12$ it has been fine tho for 6 months it is a not fused one just a chunk of metal with a plastic cover

now i just go the car back today i had the engine rebuilt and the amp did work b4 and for bout 10 min after work could it be a back ground and the engine and everything else is working great
