Cold weather bad for "polyether"?

So, I had my 12" Ti for about a week and a half before this happened. It was in a small sealed box, not being overpowered or clipped. The surround is cracked prettymuch the whole way around the cone except for the huge gash that actually tore through. I am working on getting a new top piece for it but I really don't want to pay for a new one if it isn't going to hold up in Lake Superior weather....any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated. I'll have pics in a few minutes

No, in fact I was halfway between Duluth and the cities (Hinkley) when it happened. It worked fine for the first half of the trip then started clanging. I stopped, looked at it, and that was what I saw. I've blown subs before but I could always determine what I did wrong in those cases, this was my daily driver sub and all was well until this happened...I was halfway done building a ported box for it too....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
