Well I'm tearing apart my hdc3 that had coil rub, and well the housing that the coil is wrapped around broke in 2 pieces....and the bottem end is stuck around the pole with the other end of the coil windings. I didn't even pull on it, I took it out, and the coil housing was broke in 2 pieces....no how the hell can I get the coil out. I've tugged on the coil but that thing aint comin:(

nobodys gonna what to buy that sub for that price with the coil stuck in the bottom of the motor, sorry.

i have fixed these before but it takes some time. get a metal coat hanger cut it so you have a strait piece then take linemans pliers and bend the other end in a VERY short L and keep working it out piece by piece.

it's very possible it fugged up the pole...

nope got it guys.....was easy actually...and **** the glue dj gave me really didn't seem too strong

I hit the spider landing once with a hammer and the whole thing pretty much came off, and out came the rest of the coil with a hammer. and also I could peel the surround off with my fingers...someone want to explain why this $30 glue did this? and yes there was enough glue....MikeyB did em for me, was spread around evenly....also when I tore the surround off some spots came off clean leaving bare metal...the glue came right off...wtf

to check the pole just slide a piece of feeler stock or something small and feel for burrs. dont tell me u used ca glue for the surronds? use goop or a thick contact cement...

glad u got it out of there.

how did the coil rock enough for the fromer to break in 2? did you have a couple spiders come apart?

It sounds like the basket was cleaned and de-greased properly. However I have been told that the glue holding down the surrond only has to be a good contact cement to hold it properly and makes clening easier when reconing.

just my .02

well I did the glue to dj's specs...as for the coil, I'm not sure why it did that. the spiders were fine...but I did hook it up to the 120 outlet to end its life...it still worked after about 15 sec, but the breaker kept flipping....the coil was just starting to seperate
