What would be good off of deck power (a pioneer deh-p4600mp or something like that, it is there newest line at best buy so 15-18wrms) and still sound pretty good.

He listens to mainly country music. I am very interested in the getting somewhat loud off of deck power and still holding up pretty well. He needs the vocals to be somewhat standoutish because his hearing is degrading and likes to hear the words.

Pionneer REVS are supposed to be awesome coaxes, but they will cost more than $40.

I bought a set of phoenix gold RSD coaxes for the rear deck of my wife's car. They seem to be ok. I know people hate infinity reference speakers, but I had a set of them in the front doors of my 4runner before I had comps running off my deck and I really liked them. The highs were really good on them, and I guess if you are deadening, the mid bass would be decent.

I've also had CDT CL-5x coaxes and those were pretty good for the price too.

i have some rockford fosgate 4" coaxes i would sell you if you can make them work. never abused and still have orginal box and manual for them. great highs, and very crisp and good midbass for 4's. shoot me a PM if your interested. its in your price range.
