Clueless Newb...need Lots Of Help

ok to start off i just bought a 1993 lincoln mark VIII. now i already have a kicker L7 solo baric 12, and a 900 watt phoenix gold amp. i am going to buy a deck monday.

here are my problems

is it practical to install an amp, deck, and sub, without upgrading the regular speakers? (like the 6x9s and stuff)

i'm thinking it will be better to upgrade my regular speakers....the sound system the car came with is a "premium (haha)" JBL system.

i want a decent deck, the most i'm willing to pay is about $180, any suggestions (i'm going to buy it at best buy).

i know i'm clueless, just help me out a little lol

it would be ok to leave the stock speakers for awhile if money is short. you can usually find a decent head unit for a fair price if you look for sales.

actually i wouldn't laugh too hard, if you think that thing sounds like junk, don't forget what ac delco sounds like //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif or any other stock stereo system for that matter.

but yea, if money is tight, stocks will do for now, just don't forget, door speakers aren't ment to put out bass, thats what subwoofers are for.

try to find a head unit with a built in frequency cut off/high pass filter for your cabin speakers.

either that, or in line x-overs that connect directly to the speakers, NOT A COMPONENT SYSTEM! rather it just connects to the positive line in on the speaker, and prevents any hz lower than the intended fq from going to the speaker, alot of hu's have the option for a cutoff, most don't go below 60 hz, but even thats too high for door speakers.

and what you're describing is called a passive xover, or inline passive xover...

tis what i ment, idk what i was thinking with high and low...lol, had em mixed up...but yea, passive x-over is what i ment, was in a hurry, had to get some stuff done round the house.
