Would the sealed volume be in spec with your sub?

my woofer recommends for sealed is starting at 35liters

What will the internal volume be after you seal it?

What's the sub, what are the dimensions of the box and port? Post some pics if possible too.

Research is your friend on box size,too small,too big ect.thats a small box no matter what.dont expect it to be much better if you choke the sub any more.get the correct ported box size tuned to 36.if thats not loud enough.then look to get a more powerful sub in the correct box with a bigger amp to match.

I'd honestly just get a proper box

You have roughly 50 liters total, which will probably work with that sub.
