Clipping

The amount of people in here trying to pretend they know what they are doing is astounding. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Why dont you gives us insight since your God and all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Second: To the guy that said gains should never be over 3/4, your again wrong, Gains depend on voltage both from electrical and pre-outs on the unit, how high you turn the bass boost up ( which i dont think you should ever do ) so like bubba said, you cant just throw some random number out.

why dont you just be quiet for a little while. because you obv cant read correctly

okay back on topic..what are some things i can upgrade so i wont get so much clipping? alt? wiring? batt?
Let's start here, since I don't want to read all the pages again.

-What ga wire do you have going from the battery to the amp? Amp to ground?

-Do you have a good solid ground, paint scraped off around it?

-What is your gain set at on the amp, and what is your HU preout voltage?

A couple things I recommend you not do:

-Bump your thread every 5 minutes.

-Listen to your "buddy who knows a lot about car audio".

well sorry to correct both of you but hes clipping remember. im not talking about any other setup. if his gains where that high i was making sure he had turned them down. please read a little harder //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I'm fucking around...obviously clipping is bad on a daily basis, no one is contending that.

do the big 3. get 0/1 and go from battery ground to car, engine block to car, alt pos to bat pos with a 300amp fuse no more than 6inch away from battery. new battery (yellowtop or whatever your prefer) and an highoutput alt and not a cheapo off ebay.

i have 8 gauge running from bat to amp and 8 gauge from amp to ground BUT i just got 4 ft of 0 gauge in to go from amp to ground(should i go ahead and upgrade that and then do bat to amp 0 gauge when i get more money?)

no..my ground sucks..its not very good.

my gain is set fine and i dont have an aftermarket HU.

I highly doubt this is necessary, let him start with what I asked him

dont have the money for all that right now..all i have is 4ft of 0 gauge to go from amp to ground. i will get one of the kinetik batts whenever i get money and a new HU and alt.

l4....lets keep on with what weve discussed..i think were getting somewhere //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ground could be a HUGE possibility. Along with the 8 ga power wire.

That amp will only require 4 ga, I would run 4 ga from batt to amp and amp to gnd, but that 0 ga for the gnd won't hurt, in fact it'll be overkill, and overkill is better than okay.

Make sure it is grounded well. No seat bolts or any of that shit, measure, drill a hole and sand the paint around the hole you drilled down to bare metal. Most say you should go directly to the frame, I didn't, mine is in the cab of the truck and my ground is fine.

Your gain is probably fine, but for the moment (until you can redo your power and ground with the proper gauge wire and do a good ground) you might want to turn the gain down a bit to avoid clipping.

Start with that, I would bet money that is your problem.

Edit: I clipped my single 12" off 300 watts like a mofo when I had 10 ga power run with 16 ga speaker wire as a ground. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif We all start somewhere.

wow...thank you. thats wait ive been waiting for all day long!! and im gonna go big and just order all 0 gauge completely. BUT since i have that 4 ft of 0 gauge RIGHT NOW can i go ahead and use that as a ground(obviously get a new ground also because mine sucks) until i can afford 20 more ft to run from my bat to amp?
