Clipping

wow...thank you. thats wait ive been waiting for all day long!! and im gonna go big and just order all 0 gauge completely. BUT since i have that 4 ft of 0 gauge RIGHT NOW can i go ahead and use that as a ground(obviously get a new ground also because mine sucks) until i can afford 20 more ft to run from my bat to amp?
As long as your amp will accept 0 gauge...my Hifonics 1200 watt only has 4 gauge input. It would still fit but you'd have to trim it up quite a bit.

You can, the ground expels power from the amp back to the battery. If you have a smaller ground than power, it will make a bottleneck in the flow of the electricity. But there is no problem having a ground that's bigger. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

If your looking for some cheaper 1/0, KnuKonceptz sells Copper Clad Aluminum wire called KLMX for pretty cheap. It doesn't carry as much current as the Fleks line but it's a lot cheaper and if you aren't running that much power it'll be fine...

Yep...$0.89 a foot and it's what I use. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

He doesn't need 1/0, even CCA 4 is fine for 1200
yeahhh i fixed the post =P

but if you ever plan on getting another amp in the future or might id go with the 0/1 kicker kit that way you just add a 4 awg to the distro block and youd be set. if not and youre just keeping this amp 4 is great

Or he could do what I did, get a foot or so of 1/0, run that to a fused distro block, then have that split into 4 and 8 or whatever his other amp requires.

And his 4 ga for the sub amp would already be run from the trunk to the hood.

okay ill just use that for my bat to amp.. and i dont think the 0 gauge wire will fit in my amp so i will have to trim it up..but theres no harm in that is there?
No, but I wouldn't get any more 1/0 than you already have for that amp. Solely because you already have that 1/0 and it's going to be more difficult to work with as it is.

he could very well do that. i did not think of that =P
I saved a whole lot over buying two separate fuse holders. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Only problem will be if I upgrade my sub to one that requires more than 1200 watts, because then I'd need an amp that requires more than 4 gauge.

This won't happen, until I do a blowthrough. I don't have the room for a bigger amp or the space for a bigger box for a bigger, more powerful sub.

That 10" in the cab is freaking ridiculous as it is.

uhhhhh....i think ill just buy all 4 gauge wire..i dont know how to do all that distro block mess and all that stuff..seems confusing.
