cleaning metal before paint?

I just sanded down some spots of surface rust on the inside of the cab of my truck and I'm going to repaint it before I install the raammat that just arrived. What is the best way to clean the metal to promote adhesion of the primer and paint?

make sure you get off all of the rust spots. If you paint over rust, it will eventually bubble up through your paint. After you get all the rust off, sand down with 80-100 grit sandpaper. You can use some acetone to get all the dust particles off. Then lay down some thick primer.

just sand down the rust as best you can, wipe it down with some common rubbing alcohol and a lint free towel. Get some of that spray on rust killer and apply a liberal coat and you'll be golden.
