Cleanest Sounding Small SQL Sub 8-10"?

I'm sure the best SQL sub question has been asked a million times, but i can't seem to find threads that match what i want. All the people that ask for advice on sql subs end up talking about how they want it loud or want to be heard down the block. This is definitely not what i'm looking for.

What i'm looking for is pretty modest and simple. I just picked up a pair of rsd components and would like a clean sounding sub to complete the low end frequencies. Maybe i'm getting old, but i don't care much for spl. I'd like an 8 or 10" sub that isn't too power hungry.

The names that seem to come up repeatedly are Fi Q, and SI MAG. When i was looking for a sub 6 or so years ago, JL seemed to be pretty dominant. Are the w6 and w7 no longer top contenders? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

id say 250-300 would be my budget. the less space it needs the better. i dont have much trunk space to begin with.

i've seen idq suggested a lot as well. they were pretty highly regarded a few years ago also. does it matter what version? the newer the better?

Due to space constraints, I think i'd prefer a sealed box. thanks for the suggestions, though.
Well, then could you please give us a few more specifics...
How much space do you have available?

How much do you want to spend?

Do you have an amp already, or will you need that too?

If you need an amp, how much power are you looking to run?

What does the rest of the system consist of?

it's a 5th gen prelude trunk, i'd have to guestimate about 14 inches of height, maybe 25 inches of width, and 14 or so inches of depth in the slot i'd like to keep it in

250-300 on the driver is my budget

i'll need an amp

If you need an amp, how much power are you looking to run?

probably around 3-600 watts

What does the rest of the system consist of?

old clarion deck, pg rsd65cs and cadence TXA-3004

TXA-3004 to power it
sorry for leaving these out... i also plan on getting a second set of components for the rear if i end up liking the pg's, thus the 4-channel cadence.

Based on all the info you provided, I think a IDQ 10V3.D2 in a 1 cu ft sealed box would be perfect... http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5806 -- and run it off of a TXA-3002.
Regarding the set of components for the rear, I'd skip that altogether... concentrate on your front stage instead... bridge the TXA-3004 to the front comps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thanks, ill definitely look into the idq. i actually asked this question in the speakers forum, but i was wondering why people recommend keeping the rears stock or not running rears at all. im a big fan of enveloping sound, do you still get that with just fronts? are there disadvantages to running both front and rear or are you just saying that good frontstage>mediocre front & rear?
