isnt it something like the digital switching going on cant go fast enough for it to play high pitched tones? like the switching tone as it is is something like 47,000hz? i dunno...Riddle me this:
If amps don't affect SQ, then how can you explain the fact that *most* car audio class D amps aren't recommended to be played above ~500hz...............
If that's your idea of a stumper, you don't even understand the debate.Riddle me this:

Right......that is why I never said all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But my point was, if you don't set the switching high enough, that it will affect the output of the higher frequencies. Hence the amp is has an effect on the sound....................Looked at any of the Xtant "Xtant" Series amps yet?
How about the old Infinity Amps?
Full Range Class D.
All comes down to switching frequency. Get it high enough, and you bet it'll do full range.
Oh really?? If it wasn't a stumper, then every class D amp would be able to play out to 100khz..............remember, amps don't effect the sound...........If that's your idea of a stumper, you don't even understand the debate.

Somehow this thread was hijacked by some bored mofo's....lets get on topic.....I am interesting in the opinions from other forum users regarding the amplifier they would most recommend for clarity and sonic purity.I am thinking of putting a system together and have some preferences of my own when it comes to amps. Here's what I now have.
Soundstream Reference Class A 6.0 2-Ch 50x2 RMS
Coustic Amp 268u 4-ch 50x4 RMS
Coustic Amp 360u 2-ch 70x2 RMS
Coustic Amp 162u 2-ch 35x2 RMS
Altec Lansing ALA 552 2-Ch 50x2
I am thinking of substituting the 3 Coustic Amps for a Soundstream Van Gogh 800.5 which is a 5 Channel amp.
Cosutic amps have reputations of being quite powerful but in terms of clarity I am not sure how they stack up against more expensive brands like A/D/S, Soundstream and Xtant. The Coustic amps would be driving Midranges, Mid-Bass and highs respectively as I have them listed. The Altec would be assigned the role of driving a Subwoofer in bridged mode.
Crossing over would be done by a combination of a Cosutic XM5e and a Rockford Symmetry EPX.
Does anyone have any other ideas regarding this configuration?
Thanks.
I'm open to any other ideas.

Don't Forget the Diamond Audio D7 serieswhat happened to Tru, Audison, Zapco, Arc, Phoenix Gold, Brax, US Amps, McIntosh, etc....
how come no one mention these?? i know some of these are just in another league, but i thought these are all very clean amps...
