im noob when it comes to competing so got question about classes.. i will be running one 15" nightshade off one saz3000 and one battery in the back as well as an exide orbital under the hood.. its a ford escape.. what class would I be in? Anything i should know about competing?

Depends, on what organization you are going to go with. I like usaci style where they go by the amp size at 4 ohms. Some like the others that go by subs.

USACi StreetBeat 2 if you go buy sub size, IASCA bassboxing featherweight, DB Drag bassrace probably 139.9 class, DB Drag street stock A or B cant remember.

check out dbdrag.com and iasca.com

wouldnt be Street Stock because of the additional battery and the wattage of his amplifier...

there is a MECA event coming up in february.. that will be the first comp i get in with thi setup.. heard meca has alot of rules.. anything special i should do to compete in this one? what class would i be in there?

You would probably run the class that I'll be running this year, Street 2 (S2). Make sure the box and whatever is attached to it is below the highest point on the top of the back seat. PM me if you need suggestions, I compete in MECA a lot.

meca event is comin up next weekend and my system is in.. the box is below the highest point of the back seat, actually below the window line, i have 2 runs of 1/0 with a 300 amp fuse at each end and a 300 amp between spare batt and amp.. amp is a 3000d and sub is 1 15" nightshade.. Will I be in Street 2 or 3?

woah homie, you need to get that fuse size down if you want to be competitive. 300 amps would put you in street 4 and you'll be toasted by the veterans. You also need to keep your fusing 18" from your amplifier.

Look at doing street 2-3... at least you'll be in the right class.

Here is how fusing works :

Street 1 0 - 550 pressure class -- 1 Fuse

Street 2 551 - 1000 pressure class -- 2 Fuses

Street 3 1001 - 2000 pressure class -- 3 Fuses

Street 4 2001 - 4000 pressure class -- 4 Fuses

Street 5 4001+ pressure class -- Fuses Not Required

This is the calculation for pressure classes

{(Total Amperage of In-line Fusing X 10) + Woofer Cone Surface Area} = Pressure Class #

Examples for 15's (since thats what your running)

30 amps + 1-15's = 477

100 amps + 1-15's = 1177

200 amps + 2-15's = 2353

400 amps + 4-15's = 4707

All my fuses need to be 18" from amp? How should I set it up snoop?
well, at least the fuse to your subwoofer amp needs to be 18" from the amp. The fusing is really your decision though. Since your new to the game, id probably stick with Street 2 to get your feet wet. Your pressure class tops out at 2000, and you can have 3 fuses that equals your total fuse amperage allowed.

If I were you, id do three 60 amp fuses in parallel, which would put you at 180 amps and would put you at 1976.7 for your pressure class which is a tad under the 2000 limit.

so how this works is :

60A x 3 = 180 amps

180 x 10 + 176.7146 = 1976.7146 (which is below 2000)

I know this sounds confusing as fack but once you get it setup, you leave it alone for the most part.

snoop is right, im confused as fack!

so i wont have any fuses on my 1/0 i will just have 3 60 amp fuses in between my secondary batt and my amp?

Have an Xli 2500 as a sub amp in the music room, overkill for sure, never overheats, never skips a beat.
