SLASH N' BURN
Hey gang whats up? Ive been wonderin how exactly does a class d amp work? i just went n ordered another Memphis M1 15 to go with the one i already have and i was thinking about gettin the PR1000d to push em. How would i wire the subs to the amp? Also, is this amp too big or Too small?

Amps come in different classes based on their quality / efficiency.

Class D are usually used as subwoofer amps since they have relatively low quality, but are somewhat efficient... thus getting more "bang" for your buck.

There are many classes, ranging from I think A to D, including A, AB, B, BC [i think], D.

At least, this is what I read on JBL's website or something like that.

The amp works by bringing in power and AMPLIFYING it... this works with physics and a whole bunch of coily-things.

At any rate...

If you plug subs into any amp, it'll distribute the current evenly... but, this isn't as simple as it might appear. You have to compute in impedance. Check the link that brt posted. Make sure that you're doing it correctly. Don't wanna blow your amp / subs.

And always remember to set your gains CORRECTLY the first time.

Haha. I still laugh at it, too. It's no big deal. I don't care if people laugh at me. Not out here to strut my sh*t. At any rate, it'll bring the lulz.

So you're curious how mono amps distribute power?

FWIW - class D and mono amps aren't necessarily the same thing. There are class D multi channel amps and class a/b monos. The major difference is class D's are more efficient.

Regarding power -- The PR1.1000 will do 300w at 4 ohms, 600w at 2 ohms and 1000w at 1 ohm. Exactly how much power each sub gets is determined by how many there are, what type of voice coil(s) they have, and how they're wired.

I take it you're going from a single m115 to a pair?

Well, those particular subs come as single 4 ohm coils or dual 4 ohm coils.

A pair of svc 4's can be wired for 2 ohms. At that impedance the amp produces 600w, so each sub would receive 300w. A pair of dvc 4's can be wired for one ohm where they'd receive 500w each.

Either type would work, but with the dvc 4's you'd want to be especially careful to set the gain correctly on the amp, because at 500w each you'll be more likely to damage the subs when they're being driven hard.

well right now ive got my amp run mono at 4 ohms with 600 whats go 2 a single M1 15 n it supposed 2 be 500 max n i dont know if my current amp is 2ohm stable how could i figure out if it is
