Class D amps and Ohms ?

Ok , I have 2 alpine type R 12,s , I have a ppi pc2150 now , But am looking into a class D amp , If you brige a 2 channel amp of course the ohms drop in half at the amp , 4 ohm load bridged amp sees 2 ohm . on the class D amps i assume a 4 ohm load is a 4 ohm load ? Sorry if it sounds stupid ! I am looking at the jbl 1200 for them would it be ok at 1 ohm , Dual 4 ohm coils wired for 1 ohm ? Would this be plenty of power for them ? I only want to buy 1 amp , any suggestions would be great on any other amps , thx

I would look for a 1/2 ohm stable D class amp and run the subs parallel at 1 ohm mono. This way your amp wont heat up too much. Running 1 ohm on an amp is really working it. I would reccomend memphisor audiobahn.

Um just to clarify your amp doesn't change or see different ohm loads, its just stable to certain points. The JBL amp seems pretty popular on this forum. Some other good amps that go down to 1 ohm which you are looking for our the planet audio vector D(I have this, don't mock planet audio its loud, very loud...) or my personal favorite amp brand kicker, the kx1200 will run 1200 at 1 ohm but I would imagine it will be very very $$$$$...Oh well good luck later

I would go with the crossfire 1000d. All are underrated. As tested on car audio magazine it was 78% effiecient and ran @ 1283 watts @ 1 ohm andnever flinched. It idled @ 3.2 amps and max draw was 39 which is really good. I own two and would not go with anything else. Crossfire builds quality equipment. good luck
