Class D 4 channel

Listen to what thch had to say...

All I'll add is that if you are looking at full range class D's... consider looking for tripath amps instead...

It's a much better aproach for full range applications...
IIRC T-class amps doesn't put out as much power as a class D can. Though i might be confusing the fact that Tripath is the same as T-class

Yes, tripath is generally refered to as class T...

They are esentially a class D amp; only better.... so there is no reason why a tripath amp couldn't put out as much or more power then any class D...

I didn't realize this untill today but apparently tripath went out of buisiness... so much for that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Like I said lots of bad info in this thread. From 1 person mainly. OP make sure you do some research on your own man.
This thread is full of good info. Maybe you need to do the research.

If you have problems with something point them out - it's pretty cowardly to make such comments w/o having the spine/taking the time to elaborate.

If that's all the input you have to give then why bother?

you have entered the twilight zone ..........

Infinity made full range class D amps like 15+ years ago, nothing new here.

I would assume the reason why you see most of the threads in here about amps going bad are about class D is because most class D amps are large monoblock amps driving subs AND most of this forum are kids under 25 that are driving these amps HARD ..... many times above it's designed limits. You wanna see failures ? Go to any bass off show, pretty much gaurunteed if there are more than 5 or 6 competitors someone is going home with a limping or dead system.

N2, I used to recommend using 50-100% more power than the speakers were rated for just accross the board, exactly for the reasons you are showing with the charts. Now I ask what kind of music they listen to, if it's mostly rap/hip hop/eletronic bass tones, then I recommend matching the amp and speaker power rating more closely because that music has a FAR greater RMS or average content then actual music does.

been looking to possibly getting all class D amps including my 4 channel to reduce on draw from my alternator since they do not make a HO alt for my ride. How do you guys feel about class D 4 channel amps for mids and highs??? I have heard things about them having more noise and not being clear and detailed??? Is that true? Could you recommend any good class D 4 channel amps?
thanks

eddie
I've installed a few of the Pioneer PRS 150watts x 4 amps and they had very good sound! Totally change my view on class D.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Must be a different ICE than.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
No, it's the same ICEpower that B&O, Eclipse, Alpine and Pioneer (among other non-car audio companies) use.

Pioneer didn't invent it.

It was invented by a Dr. Karsten Nielsen and B&O.

I am interested in learning what is unique about the 'ICE' topology if anyone knows ??

link to the patent ?
Full range class D...not the first but probably the first mass produced/easily sourced. Efficient and small...like really small.

I'm sure there is more to it, I haven't read up on it, but from what I can tell they're great amps when size and power consumption are factors you are weary of when choosing what gear to use.
