For those who have ran or still running full range amps (4 channel in my case), how do yourate them as for as sound quality compared to a similar class a/b amp?

From my experience the class d amp sounds clean but stirle, and I have had a heck of a time tuning it, it seems to be lacking something that my Kicker 800.4 had, a sweet spot... the class D amp I have is a BB175.4 Planet Audio....any comments would be helpful ..about to send the KX 800.4 to Kicker for repair.

The only two class D amplifiers that I would consider would be the new PDX (touted as low noise) or the JL Audio HD series. I have yet to be impressed by any of the other full range class D offerings and I won't be giving Zed any of my hard earned money, even though he does have a good product.

yeah i was wondering the same thing, i always heard a/b was for sq but now that jl had the hd series in a class d, it made me wonder if it was just a power (efficiency) thing or if it effected sq at all.

Technology has come a long way. The original PDX was notoriously noisy and in my brief testing I wasn't impressed...though I'm not impressed with Alpine amps in general. Haven't heard the JL, but I suspect it's pretty good (but overpriced) like their other offerings.

I've been running the Zed leviathan since it came out and I'm very happy with it.

I think that a well designed class D full range amp would not be audibly different than A/B.... just the 12V market is a bit lagging the home market in appication of the principal.

The thing I like about the JL Audio HD series and the new PDX is their footprint. The Planet Audio and Zed full range class D offerings, not so much.

Of course, I am still leery of the new PDX series until I get to hear one in person. I absolutely HATED a PDX-5 that I was looking to buy a few years back. The front/rear channels were extremely noisy and the subwoofer channel seemed a tad bit overrated. At 2 ohms, an Orion HCCA 225 G5 literally shamed the PDX-5 on the same subwoofer, even though the Orion was rated at 100 watts RMS LESS than the Alpine.

I didn't really care for the Alpine PDX , but I was impressed with the JL HD, but i was extremely impressed with the IA6.4 , I haven't got to play with any of the new ZED amps unfortunately
