Clarion Line driver/EQ dimming...

I have an Alpine CDA-9886 and unless you buy the Alpine DSP you have just a 2 band EQ/Q settings in the head unit. So I buy a Clarion 7 band graphic/eq line driver from a local shop for $140. I installed it today and it sounds real good, but when the bass hits hard the lights on the EQ dim big time. I am sharing the same (factory) power and ground as the head unit and think this may be the culprit. The head unit lights do not dim at all. Just wondering if there are any other explanations. Thanks.

i just went out and checked my wiring and see a power/ground for my cigarette lighter that has a 15a fuse on it, which is the same as my H/U fuse rating....was wondering instead of running a dedicated power/ground for the head unit and line driver if i could just use the power wire for just the eq off of the cig lighter with a scotch lok connector since i dont ever use the cig lighter anyways, and redo the ground on both H/U and EQ to direct chassis ground....
