Circuit City Gone Mad?

I received an email today from Circuit City (Mass Email), and I noticed that a lot of the prices were ridiculously low. One in particular was an ad with a 50" Plasma 1080p and an XBOX 360 for $999? The TV alone is worth $1500, and I just said wow. For anyone that is in the market for a new TV (If you don't mind plasma) you might want to check this out. Hey, even if you don't need the XBOX, you could always sell it for a quick $150 (Makes the TV $850).

The circity city I used to work for is closing and you would think that they are having great sales but they bumped up all the prices to MSRP and then started taking discounts off that. So you are really not saving anything until it hits 40% off.

This has been discussed ad nauseam. Normally when a major chain store goes bankrupt, a liquidation company usually purchases their assets. The liquidation company has free reign to do whatever it takes to sell off the remaining inventory for, get this, maximum profit! So they mark the items up to MSRP and say 20% off one week, 30% off a little later down the line, and so on....

This is why you almost always see a store closing sale with a significant price increase over the pre "going out of business" prices.

Lastly, I will leave you with two general facts about most stores: They usually tend to do the most sales during their (1) grand opening period AND (2) their going out of business period!

Is a good deal....You can sign up for the CC and not pay interest for 2 years.

The Xbox that comes with it is rather lame with 60 GB HD...dunno if you can swap to a larger one like PS3.
