cigarette lighter problem (dvd player)

my mom has one of those wal-mart "entertainment in a bag" dvd systems and my sister slammed the part that plugs into the cig. lighter in the door and i'm wondering if i can just cut the wires and use a spare cig. lighter plug in that i have in place of the busted one......any insight???

yeh you can put a new cig. socket end on it. Jsut make sure that you get the hot and grounds in the right spot. Make sure you can solder properly
