Christmas gift help.

I am giving my father a new deck for christmas, he drives an old ford escort station wagon with the standard din size slot. I need something that is affordable (under $150 shipped brand new) and can play cds - blue display is a bonus. My father doesn't care at *all* about the quality of sound or the features, he just wants it to look nice and play cds.

I presume he doesn't have an Ipod? There is a deal at cardomain for the Kenwood KDC-MP632U (I had a CD7000 that I'm selling and getting one of these to replace it because the CD7000 is overkill now that I have the RF 360.2). If not, there are some crazy deals to be had on Clarion CD.

The other questions is ergonomics. Some guys love 9000000 buttons, others want it as simple as OEM. If simpler is better, you might be narrowing down you options.

I bought an Alpine CDA 9843 for my Dad for his birthday, and he loves it! It's very basic, and has a silver face with a really sweet blue display like you mentioned. I got it off of Ebay for $140 shipped.....he's had it for a year now, and he loves it! Simple to use, but still gives him the quality sound that he prefers.

Hope this helps!
