Sup, guys well the new year is coming and the income tax is going to role in. And I was wandering is the IVA-W200 and PXA-H701 still the best set up or is there better out or mabey coming very soon??? I still have the same setup down below so judge on what i got for the best setup!!! Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

no you have to run a signal to your h701 processor. you have two choices. run through the ai-net and run your amps through an analog signal or run through the w200's optical out to your h701 and hence a digital signal will be sent to your processor.

Care to explain what the optical out advantage is? I have a iva-d300 w/optical out. I've been looking at the h701 for more control & 5.1, but I've never heard anything about what the optical out's advantage is.

now instead of sending your music through an analog signal, now you are sending your music cd's through a digital signal. hence a much cleaner signal, enhancement of music and basically free of any floor noise in your car.

It's a matter of how many times you try and convert sound. If you run optical out of headunit to processor it stays digial until you go to the amp. Otherwise, it's converted to analog and then to digital in processor and back to analog at amp. The sound is clearer if you stay digital utnil amp.

While in theory that argument is supported, IME it audibly makes hardly- if any a difference in the car. If you have quality conversion in the chain the end result will still be great sound.

But yes with the alpine route, its best to keep it digital.

Yeah, a good analog unit has no real disadvantages over a good digital one, it terms of SQ anyway. I'd like to try a modified behringer, if I wasn't poor... The h701 is known to have noise if you don't go digi though.

You said music cd's but im assuming this cleans up everything and enahnces ipod and dvd as well, right?

Also, where can i purchase one of these optical out cables? Is it Alpine specific? How much?

Sorry for all the questions..

It doesn't clean up or enhance anything, it transfers the signal better than analog. It's simply a better signal. As far as the optical out cables, you can get them at pretty much any electronic stores, but I'm sure someone out there has made some specifically for car audio.

Just got my W200 and H701 in today! Can't wait to get to use it!! Gonna be a little while though. Gotta finish building my dash, console, kick panels, and amp rack. Although I am sure I will end up wiring it up and testing speaker locations before I come to a final decision on placement.
